One Ladder, and one way onto it
Five rungs, and a single route to the first of them: apply, sit the Calibration, get accredited. Everything below is the rule the claim gate actually reads.
How you get onto the Ladder
The same route for everyone, whatever you have already done.
Apply
Your Track, how long you have worked in it, your current title, and a couple of pieces of work. About ten minutes in total.
Sit the Calibration
A blind review of a document from your own field that we have planted defects in. 45 to 60 minutes. Everybody sits it — thirty years in the job does not exempt you, because a self-declared level is not evidence. What your experience does decide is what a pass is worth: it sets the rung and the Band you start on.
Get accredited
Pass and you hold a live accreditation in your Track. Your first three reviews are read by a senior reviewer before they reach the customer, and they are paid in full — there is no reduced rate for being new.
The five rungs

Accreditation is held per Category, so a reviewer can sit on different rungs in different fields. Bands describe how demanding a piece of work is: C1 Simple, C2 Single system, C3 Complex, C4 Regulated.
How much work you may hold at once
Concurrency is the thing a rung most visibly buys: more work in hand at the same time.
What a rung does not change
The bar on the work itself is identical at every rung. Only the scope and the volume move.
- It is not bought. No Membership raises your rung, your Band or your Tracks.
- It is not a permission to take a specific job — the claim gate still checks conflicts, Band and availability.
- It does not lower the standard: specific, checkable corrections, returned inside the agreed window, at every rung.
- It does not survive a conflict you failed to declare.
